POSITION OVERVIEW

The Bar Support Staff plays a crucial role in assisting Bartenders by ensuring the bar is well-stocked, organized, and prepared for service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Replenishing liquor supplies according to daily inventory needs.
  • Assisting with preparation tasks for daily operations (e.g., slicing fruit, making syrups).
  • Stocking essential items such as straws, disposable cups, napkins, ice, and cleaning materials.
  • Collaborating with the bar team to maintain a well-prepared bar area.
  • Monitoring and ensuring cleanliness and organization of the bar during service.
  • Addressing emergencies at the bar, including broken glass, spills, and other unforeseen issues.
  • Disposing of trash and maintaining cleanliness in and around the bar area.
  • Supporting cleanliness in guest areas.
  • Completing general cleaning tasks as directed by supervisors to meet health standards.
  • Executing closing duties, including proper storage of goods and restocking for the next service.
  • Performing additional tasks as requested.
  • Mopping the bar floor as necessary.
  • Assisting with inventory counts during opening and closing.
  • Responding to guest inquiries and concerns with the support of fellow staff.
  • Working collaboratively with team members and offering assistance when needed.
  • Engaging with guests through friendly interactions.
  • Organizing and disposing of waste materials efficiently.
  • Undertaking any other responsibilities assigned by management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform each essential duty at a high standard. The following qualifications are necessary:

  • Completion of Grade 12 education and a minimum of one year of relevant experience.
  • Proficient working knowledge of English (both written and verbal).
  • Valid Smart Serve Certification.
  • Knowledge of wine, beer, and cocktails is essential.
  • Must exhibit emotional maturity, respectfulness, and sincerity.
  • Well-groomed and courteous demeanor.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Understanding of all relevant policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Enjoyment in engaging with people.
  • Experience in guest service roles.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
