Job Title: Cloud Architect
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Architect to join our team at VDart Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing cloud infrastructure solutions that meet our business requirements and align with our IT strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with our engineering teams to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for our clients.
- Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance.
- Design and implement cloud infrastructure solutions that meet our business requirements and align with our IT strategy.
- Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale while maintaining high standards for code quality and thoughtful design.
- Guide and coach junior engineers on the team as they grow in their skills and gain experience within the Cloud Engineering space.
- Provide technical leadership in the deployment and operational management of cloud solutions.
- Design and maintain cloud provisioning templates required for building and managing our cloud platforms while adhering to our client compliance and performance standards and policies.
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for building and managing our cloud-native applications while adhering to our client security compliance and performance standards and policies.
- Design, build, and deploy cloud applications, including large-scale data processing, computationally intensive statistical modeling, and advanced analytics.
- Participate in all aspects of the SDLC for cloud solutions, including planning, requirements development, testing, and quality assurance.
- Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, fix, and document problems, and implement preventive measures.
- Educate teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training when necessary.
- Demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity.
- Develop and maintain supporting documentation for all automated processes.
- Work closely with Prod and Non-Prod environment owners to develop and maintain a role-based workflow that supports segregated duties.
- Coordinate and lead training and information sharing meetings with the rest of the Cloud Engineering team.
- Oversee and support Production deployments during major release activities for components owned by the Cloud Engineering team.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in several committees pertaining to Cloud Governance and Architecture.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Cloud Engineering or DevOps role with knowledge of AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud platforms.
- Demonstrated experience in leading large projects or small teams.
- Strong leadership, including the ability to influence others, work independently, and exercise appropriate judgment in decision-making.
- Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of business analysts, developers, data scientists, and subject matter experts.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with management, peers, and other departments within IT.
- Respect for change management, environmental integrity, and process workflow within a relatively new and rapidly maturing organization.
- Strong analytical and technical ability, including strength in general issue troubleshooting.
- Understanding of and experience with the five pillars of a well-architected framework.
- Ability to quickly learn client-specific processes, topology, tools, often with limited documentation.
- Technical experience with OS Level Administration (Linux, Windows), IaC Provisioning Tools (Terraform, ARM, Ansible, CloudFormation), Software development lifecycle principles, Build Orchestration Tools (Jenkins, Bamboo, etc.), Deployment Tools (CD/RO, Ansible, Azure DevOps, etc.), and Source Control Management (GitHub, SVN, BitBucket, etc.).
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or JavaScript.
- Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with DevOps principles and CI/CD tools like CloudBees/Jenkins, GitLab, or GitHub Actions.
Working Conditions and Additional Requirements:
Must be able to work under normal office conditions and work from home as required.
Work may require simultaneous use of a telephone/headset and PC/keyboard and sitting for extended durations.
May be required to work additional hours beyond standard work schedule.
