Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of engineers and technicians in the planning, design, and implementation of municipal engineering projects.
- Develop and implement engineering policies and procedures to ensure compliance with municipal bylaws and regulations.
- Provide technical guidance and support to engineers and technicians on engineering projects.
- Manage and coordinate engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including municipal officials, developers, and the public.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, and apply this knowledge to improve engineering processes and services.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Transportation Engineering from an accredited university.
- 5+ years of experience as a licensed Professional Civil Engineer (eligible for licensure in Ontario).
- 5+ years of progressive engineering experience in municipal public works, encompassing urban, semi-urban, and rural environments.
- 5+ years of progressive supervisory experience in a unionized setting.
- Proven abilities in time management and organizational skills with a strong emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated integrity and adherence to professional standards, regulations, and corporate policies.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Sound judgment, initiative, and creativity in evaluating engineering solutions.
- Practical knowledge of municipal policies, procedures, and processes.
- Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and relevant civil engineering design and modeling software.
- Familiarity with key legislation including the Environmental Assessment Act, Municipal Act, and others.
