Civil Engineering Technologist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineering Technologist to join our team at West Hants Regional Municipality. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of our infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development: Assist in developing engineering specifications and drawings, and participate in field surveys, inspections, or technical investigations.
  • Project Management: Prepare construction specifications, costs, and material estimates, and supervise or conduct field surveys, inspections, technical investigations, and testing of construction materials.
  • Technical Expertise: Read blueprints to determine dimensions of structure or system and material requirements, and have a strong understanding of Geographic Information System (GIS), AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and handle heavy loads, while maintaining attention to detail and providing excellent communication skills.
Requirements:
  • Education: College/CEGEP diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Experience in civil engineering is an asset.
  • Certifications and Licenses: Certification by a provincial or territorial association.
