Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech and Hearing Assistant to join our team at Chilliwack General Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide essential support to Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists in delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer routine screenings and procedures to patients, including hearing screenings, impedance and pure tone testing, and otoacoustic emission testing.
  • Assist with patient treatments under the supervision of a Speech-Language Pathologist, such as thermal stimulation, oral-motor exercises, and communication exercises.
  • Prepare patient materials and related materials, including communications boards using graphics software.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory and equipment, including communication devices and hearing aids.
  • Provide information to patients and family members on speech and hearing topics, such as communication strategies and available community resources.
Requirements
  • Completion of a Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to organize work and operate related equipment.
