We're seeking a highly skilled Backend Engineer to join our Cars Agency team at Hopper. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and deploying complex backend systems that power our Car Rentals distribution channels.

This role will involve feature development and infrastructure work, allowing you to contribute to various aspects of our ecosystem.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Building and operating a robust and performant infrastructure that supports millions of bookings per year
  • Solving complex technical and software architecture problems
  • Shipping code in days, iterating on features in an agile manner
  • Leveraging and contributing to a rich microservice architecture system
  • Collaborating with a diverse group of people, giving and receiving feedback for growth
  • Assisting with the evolution and automation of our operational processes
Requirements
  • Solid understanding of microservices architecture and ability to develop Scala microservices
  • Experience building and managing multiple external API integrations
  • Experience designing APIs
  • Professional experience developing data-heavy platforms or APIs
  • Experience working with gRPC/Protobuf
  • Functional programming experience
  • Solid understanding of Cloud Platforms
  • Kubernetes knowledge and experience
  • A strong understanding of distributed systems and how architectural decisions affect performance and maintainability
