Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to enhance our Project Management team in Ottawa. The successful candidate will possess extensive experience across all stages of project lifecycles, particularly in complex environments, and will demonstrate a solid grasp of Project Management methodologies. This role involves providing essential support to Senior Project Managers and their respective projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organizing and scheduling project activities while collaborating with engineering leads to define project tasks;
- Assisting in estimating work efforts and resource allocations;
- Monitoring costs, managing cash flow, and ensuring project execution aligns with established timelines;
- Conducting ongoing cost and schedule control activities, including Earned Value Management;
- Managing tools for schedule tracking and maintaining Earned Value dashboards;
- Overseeing contract management and liaising with clients and suppliers;
- Providing project status updates to senior management;
- Facilitating workshops across engineering disciplines.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Software) or equivalent technical experience;
- A minimum of 5 years in a Project Management role;
- At least 3 years of experience in scheduling and task estimation;
- Familiarity with risk management and change management processes;
- Strong teamwork capabilities, collaborating with customer teams, Project Management colleagues, and external suppliers;
- Proven experience in procurement, financial reporting, and client relationship management within a project management context;
- Experience in tracking design and engineering progress;
- Adaptability to various assignments in changing contractual scenarios;
- Experience in Naval Communications and Defense procurement is advantageous;
- Experience with bids and proposals is a plus;
- Project Management Professional (PMP) accreditation is desirable;
- Proficiency in Earned Value Management and the ability to translate activities into effective dashboards and reports;
- Experience with customer interactions and understanding of Firm-Fixed Price and Time & Materials contracts;
- A personable demeanor with a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced team setting.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must qualify for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain Canadian government Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance;
- Must meet the criteria for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
