Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Supervisor of the Energy Pilot Facilities & Operations team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Technical Responsibilities:
    • Gather, compile, and document experimental data, producing comprehensive data summaries.
    • Organize, oversee, and maintain experiments or segments of experiments; design simple experimental setups; support pilot-scale experiments.
    • Conduct experiments and assist in the analysis of results.
    • Operate, maintain, test, calibrate, and provide equipment that meets specified standards.
  • Project Management:
    • Identify and procure materials, services, facilities, equipment, and supplies for experimental projects.
    • Review and assist in the preparation of moderately complex project proposals and cost estimates.
    • Monitor, report, and present progress, data, and results of experiments to the project leader.
  • Safety and Quality Management:
    • Actively participate in conducting hazard assessments, self-safety, and cross-audit safety inspections, and developing safe working procedures to ensure a hazard-free workplace.
    • Maintain laboratory organization and cleanliness.
    • Handle, store, and dispose of chemical and waste materials appropriately.
  • Business Development and Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Assist in engaging and following up with new and existing clients or stakeholders.
    • Participate in technical project meetings and contribute to action item follow-ups.

Educational Background:

  • Diploma in Materials or Chemical Engineering Technology

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of experience in corrosion or material lab testing and related instrumentation in an industrial or research setting.
  • Experience working in H2S environments, with H2S Alive certification (or eligibility for renewal).
  • Familiarity with NACE and ASTM standards.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.

Essential Skills:

  • Comfortable working in an industrial environment with an understanding of industrial hazards and processes.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to comprehend equipment process flow (e.g., P&ID interpretation).
  • Willingness to engage in hands-on work and perform physically demanding tasks in support of pilot-scale facility operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce technical data reports.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Flexibility to manage a variety of tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload effectively.
