Job Summary

The Youth and Family Counsellor will be responsible for providing high-quality services to children, youth, and families within a structured setting. This role requires a strong commitment to delivering exceptional care and meeting the requirements of the Health and Safety Management System at Wood's Homes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide therapeutic support to children, youth, and their families, including attendance at case conferences, involvement in intervention strategies, and consultations.
  • Implement and maintain a structured setting that fosters the development of personal and social functioning for each client.
  • Support educational placements in the community and daily programming routines.
  • Assist with various tasks associated with program functioning, including meal preparation, cleaning, and transportation of children, youth, and families.
  • Maintain the upkeep of the living space of the program and ensure the provision of program services that meet the requirements of the Licensing Department.
  • Participate actively in supervisory meetings, team meetings, retreats, planning sessions, and designated in-service training.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Undergraduate Degree in the Social Sciences, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or Nursing.
  • Current proof of professional registration may be required for certain diplomas or degrees.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of related experience.
  • Able to lift 50lbs.
  • Certification, training, and experience with crisis intervention, restrictive procedures, and behaviour management preferred.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Class 5 Drivers License and personal mode of transportation required.
