Job Overview:

  • The Automotive Validation Operations Leader will oversee a team of engineers specializing in the validation of electrical systems within automotive applications, ensuring compliance with federal regulations regarding software performance, safety standards, manufacturability, and the overall functionality of hardware and software components.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage master Design Verification Plans (DVPs) for vehicle validation, including the creation and oversight of DVP&Rs and test protocols, while maintaining traceability of test artifacts to specified requirements.
  • Ensure the team accurately documents testing procedures and innovates new tests to broaden coverage.
  • Guarantee that test properties are functional for validating essential operations, executing tests, and recording results at all integration points across various programs.
  • Facilitate clear documentation of issues by engineers in the required systems and provide comprehensive DVP&R results along with any outstanding issues to the Validation Project Chief.
  • Lead the formulation and execution of testing strategies, ensuring traceability from requirements to outcomes to enhance testing capabilities across multiple vehicle platforms.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in electrical systems design, development, or testing engineering.
  • Proven experience in the validation of intricate systems.
  • Knowledge of communication buses (CAN / LIN / other) and experience with diagnostic tools.
  • Proficiency in developing DVP&R and detailed electrical testing protocols.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Capability to manage multiple assignments and coordinate testing efforts for various validation engineers and programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Advanced degree in a technical or business discipline.
  • Familiarity with electrical system design and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of electrical systems.
  • DFSS Green Belt certification.
  • Reactive Green Belt certification.
Educational Background:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field (Materials/Chemical/Civil/Aerospace/Computer) from an ABET accredited institution.
Additional Requirements:

  • At least 5 years' experience in electrical systems design, development, or testing engineering.
  • Experience in validating complex systems, knowledge of communication buses (CAN / LIN / other), proficiency with diagnostic tools, and expertise in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of electrical systems.
  • Experience in developing DVP&R and detailed electrical testing protocols.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments while coordinating testing for various validation engineers and programs.
