Position Summary:

We are in search of a driven and skilled Electrical Engineering Technologist, PSE, or Engineer to enhance our field services division. This full-time role is ideal for individuals who excel in communication, possess strong problem-solving abilities, and pay meticulous attention to detail. Our work environment is dynamic, offering continuous challenges in all facets of the testing and commissioning process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of commissioning personnel.
  • Conduct testing and commissioning of MV/HV power system protection and control systems across various sectors including utilities, power generation, and oil & gas.
  • Interpret technical drawings and resolve any arising technical issues.
  • Mentor and develop team members to achieve peak performance standards.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports.
  • Assist in the creation of commissioning startup procedures and work instructions.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols in accordance with corporate, client, and industry standards.
  • Engage with customers to address inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and confirm resolutions.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, a Power Systems Electrician Journeyman Ticket, or an Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma from an accredited institution.
  • Eligibility for registration with APEGGA, ASET, or a similar body.
  • Thorough understanding of electrical power system protection and control principles, including SCADA, relay protection, metering, and telecom networks.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in medium and/or high voltage utility substations and power generation, including supervisory roles in both greenfield and brownfield projects.
  • Experience with relay testing of microprocessor-based protection IEDs (e.g., SEL, ABB, Siemens, GE) using automated test equipment (e.g., Omicron CMC356) and managing test data.
  • Proficient in high voltage primary equipment testing and commissioning, including transformers, circuit breakers, and disconnect switches.
  • Familiarity with NETA/IEEE/IEC testing standards.
  • Strong knowledge of CSA Z462 safety standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and strong computer skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong analytical, risk assessment, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • NETA Testing Certification is an asset.
  • Background checks and Drug and Alcohol Pre-Access Testing will be required as part of employment.

Additional Information:

Typical work shifts may vary, requiring flexibility to accommodate project needs. Working hours generally span from 7 am to 5:30 pm, with daily hours subject to change based on project requirements.
