About the Role:

Toromont Material Handling is seeking a skilled Battery Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing scheduled maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs on industrial batteries and chargers in a field environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on industrial batteries and chargers, including cleaning, watering, and testing.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues with batteries and chargers.
  • Remove and replace battery cells as needed.
  • Fill cells with acid and determine specific gravity.
  • Utilize electrical and mechanical testing and measuring equipment to troubleshoot issues.
  • Identify and recommend additional repairs or services required on customer equipment.
  • Work with fellow technicians to coordinate necessary repairs and ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Record battery values and update work flow documents.

Requirements:

  • College diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electronic Engineering or a related field.
  • Service experience relating to batteries and chargers is an asset.
  • Good mechanical and electrical aptitudes, knowledge of electrical/electronic systems.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
  • Customer-focused with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to complete services within established time guidelines in a busy, fast-paced environment.
  • Self-directed team player with strong initiative, business acumen, and integrity.
  • Focused, energetic, and organized with superior attention to detail and a sense of urgency.
  • Adaptable to on-call working schedules when required.
  • Able and willing to operate various material handling equipment.
  • A valid Driver's License (class 5) and available to commute in various locations in Toromont Cat Dealer territory.
