About the Role

The Junior Fire Protection Engineer will work closely with Senior Engineers and the Team Leader, executing tasks with minimal supervision. Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential, along with strong communication skills and a proactive approach to learning.

Main Responsibilities

  • Operate AutoCAD effectively
  • Assist the Design Team with production tasks, including:
    • Setting up AutoCAD drawing files and refining working drawings
    • Drafting fire protection plans based on input from Design Staff
    • Adhering to established design checklists and standards
    • Maintaining AutoCAD files and ensuring compliance with company standards
    • Coordinating fire suppression needs with mechanical and electrical services, with guidance from senior staff
    • Conducting thorough checks of work before submission to Designers

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical or Fire Suppression Engineering or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience with AutoCAD and design in fire protection systems
  • Familiarity with HVAC and plumbing design is a plus
  • Knowledge of fire alarm and detection systems is advantageous
  • Experience with Revit is beneficial
  • Ability to interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings with supervision
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of relevant building codes and NFPA standards is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Capable of multitasking and collaborating effectively within a team
