Job Title: Regional Assignment Editor

We are seeking a highly skilled Regional Assignment Editor to join our team at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. As a key member of our newsroom, you will be responsible for coordinating the work of our journalists assigned to regional coverage in Montreal and Quebec on all of our platforms: radio, digital publishing, video for web and TV.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the work of our journalists to ensure timely and accurate coverage of regional news stories.
  • Determine story angles to pursue in event coverage and develop original content ideas.
  • Provide regular feedback to field reporters to recognize great work and help them develop and excel.
  • Consult, plan, assign, and coordinate newsgathering resources to cover the most relevant and impactful stories and events.
  • Work closely with the anchor to line up TV newscasts and some radio newscasts.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Five years' journalism experience or equivalent.
  • Extensive general knowledge and in-depth knowledge of current events and issues in Quebec.
  • Ability to identify the concerns of the population and work in a team environment.
  • Fluent in English and working knowledge of French.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate the day-to-day work of reporters to meet tight deadlines.
  • Leadership and independence.
