Position Summary
Under the guidance of the Program Supervisor and Senior Instructor, this role provides safe and engaging instruction to program participants.
Major Responsibilities
- Deliver instruction using established lesson plans and core program materials for all classes.
- Maintain a clean pool environment by returning equipment to its designated locations.
- Supervise classes effectively, ensuring the safety of all participants.
- Actively participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Complete necessary reports, including timesheets, accident reports, unusual event logs, theft reports, complaint forms, and instructional program summaries.
- Address equipment repairs or maintenance needs promptly; inform the supervisor of any significant issues.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of facility emergency procedures.
- Conduct pre-tests for students, prepare test sheets, and assist with LSS Examiner preparation when applicable.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education/Experience: Current certifications in CRCS/LSS Instructor, RLSSC Aquatic Emergency Care, or Standard First Aid and CPR Level C are essential.
- Skills/Abilities: A customer-focused approach and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members are crucial. Initiative and a positive attitude are highly valued.
- Assets: National Lifeguard Service certification is considered an asset.
Conditions of Employment
- Maintain all certifications current throughout the employment period.
- Successfully complete customer service training and WHMIS training within three months of employment.
- Undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC).
- Be available to work irregular hours and weekends as required.
