Structural Engineer for Maritime and Coastal Projects

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maritime and Coastal Engineer to join our team at GHD. As a key member of our Maritime and Coastal team, you will be responsible for planning and designing various port and coastal infrastructure projects, including quays, jetties, ramps, breakwaters, and marinas.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and design port and coastal infrastructure projects, including quays, jetties, ramps, breakwaters, and marinas, for a wide range of operations, including container, bulk solid and liquid, renewable energy, ferry, public transportation, general cargo, and cruise operations.
- Lead and complete structural inspections and various maritime works, including coordinating with other disciplines and subcontractors.
- Analyze project data and evaluate the need for additional studies, inspections, and surveys (gap analysis), including knowledge of destructive and non-destructive inspection methods in submerged and emerged environments, environmental conditions in fluvial and coastal areas, and port operations context.
- Lead and actively participate in structural modeling using finite element analysis software, including static and dynamic analysis, and interaction between soil and structure. Perform mooring, hydraulic, and climatic load analyses, and drag analysis.
- Supervise and actively participate in the design of maritime, port, and coastal structures, including various types of structures (reinforced concrete, steel, and wood): gravity structures, soil retaining walls, pier structures, deep foundations, and docking and mooring equipment: docking systems, mooring posts, quick-release mooring posts, etc.
- Lead and prepare plans, specifications, and other technical documents for procurement (Tender and Construction) while integrating constructability analysis and environmental protection measures.
- Prepare technical reports and studies, including feasibility, capacity analysis, and rehabilitation.
- Evaluate project costs and prepare project schedules.
- Ensure technical review and quality assurance of deliverables under your responsibility to ensure that plans, specifications, and design details meet quality standards, applicable regulations, and best practices.
- Ensure communication and coordination with internal and external stakeholders involved.
- Strong interest in the field of maritime, port, and coastal infrastructure and their environment.
- Experience in complex multidisciplinary projects where we lead and are at the center of understanding client needs.
- Commitment to developing and maintaining healthy relationships with clients.
- Continuous improvement of team knowledge on maritime and port market trends, client needs, and innovative practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering, a Master's degree in a related field is an asset.
- At least 5 years of experience in the maritime and coastal sector or a related field (e.g., heavy civil engineering, hydraulic structures, art structures, structures, etc.).
- Professional experience in analyzing, evaluating, and designing soil retaining structures, pier structures, deep foundations, and other types of structures.
- Validated experience with Microsoft Office suite, structural analysis software (ADA, SAP 2000, etc.).
- Excellent communication and motivation skills.
- Strong writing and oral communication skills.
- Recognized team player and leadership skills.
- Valid driver's license and vehicle.
- Hold a valid ASP construction card.
