In this role, reporting to the Senior Manager of the River Hazard Management Team, the Fluvial Hydraulics and Geomorphology Expert will be tasked with the creation and execution of fluvial and geomorphology-focused assessment programs and deliverables for the province.
Collaborating closely with a dedicated team of technical engineers and geoscientists, this position will provide the strategic and technical acumen necessary to ensure the innovative design and execution of Alberta's fluvial and geomorphology assessment initiatives, including alluvial fan (steep creek) hazard identification and channel migration studies.
Establishing and nurturing essential relationships with federal and municipal partners will be crucial for aligning strategic objectives and exploring potential collaborative opportunities for programs and products.
As the technical authority in fluvial hydraulics and geomorphology, you will represent the province in various internal and external discussions related to river and flood risk management.
Qualifications include a completed university degree with a focus on Engineering, Science, or related disciplines, along with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in river engineering, fluvial geomorphology, and flood hazard management.
Preferred Qualifications:
A post-graduate degree (Master's or PhD).
Experience in leading alluvial fan hazard and/or risk assessments (e.g., debris flood/flow), channel migration analysis, sediment transport studies, and modeling river processes.
This position is for a full-time permanent role.
