Position Overview
As a key member of the management team, the Construction Manager will oversee the comprehensive planning and execution of various construction initiatives from inception to completion. This role requires a proactive approach in suggesting innovative strategies that enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency, ensuring that projects are delivered within established timelines and budgetary constraints. Building and nurturing strong relationships with team members, subcontractors, consultants, and clients is essential.
Your expertise in financial oversight will be crucial in managing project budgets, expenses, and procurement processes, while your skills in risk assessment will help mitigate potential project risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitating pre-construction planning, tendering, and scope development;
- Issuing contracts and purchase orders;
- Coordinating daily on-site construction activities, including project scheduling, material requisitioning, and cost management;
- Maintaining financial oversight of projects through diligent cost reporting and tracking, including managing changes;
- Supporting project superintendents in supervising and coordinating labor and subcontractors to meet project milestones;
- Identifying critical issues and acting promptly to implement solutions;
- Representing the organization professionally in interactions with clients and consultants;
- Ensuring adherence to project schedules across all assignments;
- Conducting regular meetings with clients and project teams;
- Leveraging technology to enhance productivity and efficiency;
- Assisting the internal estimating team with budgeting and proposal development for construction projects across the region, which may involve occasional travel.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate is a highly organized and motivated construction/project manager with a proven track record in managing industrial or commercial projects of varying scales. You possess experience that spans from the pre-construction phase through to project completion. Above all, you are a collaborative team player and an effective communicator, prioritizing client satisfaction at all times.
Essential qualifications include:
- A degree or diploma in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution;
- A minimum of five years of experience as a project manager in the construction management or general contracting field;
- Experience in industrial project management is advantageous;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, project cost control software, and project management tools;
- Familiarity with BIM and 3D modeling is a plus;
- Strong time management and organizational skills;
- A commitment to thriving in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, and client-focused environment;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across diverse disciplines;
- A collaborative spirit with a focus on improving existing processes.
