We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Officer to join our team at the Travel Industry Council of Ontario. As a Compliance Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our registrants comply with the Travel Industry Act, 2002 and Ontario Regulation 26/05.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct financial statement bench reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Plan and conduct on-site inspections and/or compliance reviews of TICO registrants throughout Ontario.
- Examine all information and applicable supporting documentation against regulatory requirements to identify any compliance issues or contraventions.
- Complete risk assessments to evaluate registrants' risk ratings and identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare inspection findings reports and communicate with registrants to address compliance issues.
- Perform timely follow-up on non-compliance issues to ensure corrective action is taken.
- Conduct site inspections to verify former registrants have ceased operating at registered business locations.
- Escalate compliance files to management for further action when necessary.
- Provide guidance and advice to stakeholders on regulatory requirements and compliance matters.
- Maintain accurate records and databases to track compliance files and activities.
- Post-graduate practical experience as an inspector, auditor, or equivalent role.
- Knowledge of financial accounting principles, internal controls, and operational compliance.
- Accreditation through CPA, CIA, CFE, CICA, or equivalent desirable.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
- Strong analytical judgment and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team environment.
- Knowledge of the travel industry and regulatory requirements an asset.
The working conditions and physical demands of this role blend a typical office setting with the flexibility of a hybrid work-from-home arrangement. Travelling in the Province of Ontario is required.
Reporting StructureThis role will report to the Manager, Compliance and Complaints. There are no direct reports.
