The Robinhood Security Cryptography and IAM Platform team is dedicated to delivering cryptographic services and libraries that support Robinhood's infrastructure for key management and data encryption. This team also develops engineering solutions and provides advisory services for Workforce IAM enablement across Robinhood's custom systems and services. Our focus is on enhancing the developer experience with our cryptographic tools while establishing streamlined processes for cryptographic and authentication needs throughout the organization.
Daily Responsibilities:- Architect large-scale systems within the team, making informed decisions regarding risk and long-term sustainability.
- Create technical solutions with a high level of engineering excellence.
- Enhance system performance, scalability, developer experience, and security, while minimizing privacy and safety risks.
- Collaborate across various engineering teams to deliver comprehensive technical quality projects.
- Guide and mentor junior engineers, elevating the overall capability of the team.
- Work alongside your manager to boost team performance and contribute to building a high-functioning engineering unit.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Over 10 years of experience in Software Engineering, with a strong interest in security.
- Robust skills in architecture and design.
- A commitment to mentoring and coaching others.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- A strategic perspective on projects.
- Experience in developing solutions that achieve both immediate results and long-term objectives.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively within a team and across engineering departments.
- Proficient in Go or Python, with strong problem-solving and production debugging capabilities.
- Expertise in cloud-native platforms and container orchestration technologies (e.g., AWS, Kubernetes, gRPC, Kafka).
- Familiarity with authentication and authorization protocols/frameworks (OpenID Connect, OAuth, etc.) is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Experience with key management systems or data encryption is beneficial but not essential.
- Demonstrated ownership and experience in building and managing high-scale, distributed systems throughout the software lifecycle.
