Position Overview:
The Wilbur-Ellis Company specializes in the mixing, processing, and distribution of animal feed components. We are looking for a Plant Operator for our forage facility to support all facets of production, quality assurance, maintenance, and overall cleanliness of the facility.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience is required
- Willingness to operate material handling equipment, including forklifts and telehandlers
- Ability to lift packages weighing up to 50 lbs. (or 110 lbs. with assistance)
- Strong mathematical and organizational skills
- Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions and complete necessary documentation; proficiency in reading and writing English is essential
- Availability to work overtime as needed
Key Personal Attributes:
- Self-driven and motivated

Primary Responsibilities:
- Learn and train in all operational roles at the plant (forklift operation, container loading, etc.)
- Operate and maintain processing equipment according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Ensure cleanliness of the facility throughout all operations
- Conduct Quality Control checks while handling products
- Accurately document tasks performed (processing, maintenance, cleaning, etc.)
- Engage in warehousing tasks, including receiving, shipping, and organizing
- Adhere to all safety, regulatory, and administrative policies and procedures
- Contribute positively to a team-oriented environment
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management efficiently and professionally
- Be aware that exposure to high levels of hay dust may affect allergies and asthma.
- This position requires onsite work and personal transportation to the facility.
Compensation and Benefits:
- The base compensation for this role is $24.89 per hour, with variations based on location, skills, and experience. This position includes vacation, holidays, health, dental, vision, mental health, retirement plans, and other benefits.
