Financial Reporting Corporate Accountant

Position Overview:
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the selected candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the Financial Controller across various domains of Financial Accounting, including general ledger management, financial reporting, year-end audits, cash flow oversight, asset management, insurance administration, compliance, and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Financial Administrative Coordinator in executing administrative functions related to banking, contracts, and investments.
- Work collaboratively with different business units to ensure timely completion of the accounting period close.
- Prepare comprehensive financial statements, including cash flow statements and note disclosures, adhering to Canadian GAAP for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct financial analyses and generate management reports, including KPIs, for senior management and relevant committees.
- Evaluate compliance with the organization's financial policies, internal controls, and process efficiencies; identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies under the guidance of the Financial Controller and Senior Management.
- Optimize and manage the vendor payment workflow.
- Administer insurance programs, including general commercial liabilities, property, and Workers' Compensation.
- Assist the Financial Controller in preparing analytical reviews of financial statements, highlighting key insights and recommendations for senior management.
- Support the Financial Controller in coordinating the annual financial statement audit and external statutory audits.
- Contribute to the formulation of accounting policies in alignment with Canadian GAAP.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with financial, tax, and other statutory reporting requirements.
- Facilitate cross-training and development initiatives for staff within the Financial Accounting department.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a CPA designation (completed or nearing completion) with comprehensive knowledge of Canadian GAAP and Federal/Provincial tax regulations.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in not-for-profit sectors, with a background in property management, long-term care facilities, or hospitals, as well as cost analysis being advantageous.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and Sage ACCPAC accounting software.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and equipped with strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both English and Cantonese.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated work ethic, sense of ownership, and confidentiality.
- Ability to think innovatively, with a high degree of self-motivation.
- Proven ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines proactively.
- Willingness to work extended hours as necessary to fulfill reporting obligations.
