Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the selected candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the Financial Controller across various domains of Financial Accounting, including general ledger management, financial reporting, year-end audits, cash flow oversight, asset management, insurance administration, compliance, and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the Financial Administrative Coordinator in executing administrative functions related to banking, contracts, and investments.
  2. Work collaboratively with different business units to ensure timely completion of the accounting period close.
  3. Prepare comprehensive financial statements, including cash flow statements and note disclosures, adhering to Canadian GAAP for both internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Conduct financial analyses and generate management reports, including KPIs, for senior management and relevant committees.
  5. Evaluate compliance with the organization's financial policies, internal controls, and process efficiencies; identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies under the guidance of the Financial Controller and Senior Management.
  6. Optimize and manage the vendor payment workflow.
  7. Administer insurance programs, including general commercial liabilities, property, and Workers' Compensation.
  8. Assist the Financial Controller in preparing analytical reviews of financial statements, highlighting key insights and recommendations for senior management.
  9. Support the Financial Controller in coordinating the annual financial statement audit and external statutory audits.
  10. Contribute to the formulation of accounting policies in alignment with Canadian GAAP.
  11. Assist in ensuring compliance with financial, tax, and other statutory reporting requirements.
  12. Facilitate cross-training and development initiatives for staff within the Financial Accounting department.
  13. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Possession of a CPA designation (completed or nearing completion) with comprehensive knowledge of Canadian GAAP and Federal/Provincial tax regulations.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in not-for-profit sectors, with a background in property management, long-term care facilities, or hospitals, as well as cost analysis being advantageous.
  3. Proficient in MS Office Suite and Sage ACCPAC accounting software.
  4. Detail-oriented, organized, and equipped with strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving capabilities.
  5. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both English and Cantonese.
  6. Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Demonstrated work ethic, sense of ownership, and confidentiality.
  8. Ability to think innovatively, with a high degree of self-motivation.
  9. Proven ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines proactively.
  10. Willingness to work extended hours as necessary to fulfill reporting obligations.
