Job Title: Cost Accountant

At Tsubaki of Canada Ltd., we are seeking a highly skilled Cost Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a crucial role in formulating current and long-range costing decisions, profitability objectives, and establishing accountability within the shop floor and manufacturing departments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, study, and collect shop floor data to determine costs and profitability of manufacturing activities.
  • Coach shop floor employees on accurate recording of work order times.
  • Analyze data collected and recorded results.
  • Develop and prepare detailed monthly production reporting metrics supporting the director of manufacturing.
  • Analyze changes in product routings, raw materials, and manufacturing methods to determine effects on cost.
  • Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual for financial statement purposes.
  • Support the director of manufacturing in controlling manufacturing expenditures.
  • Analyze current spending and costs, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in evaluating estimates for new and proposed asset acquisitions.
  • Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products.
  • Maintain QAD's Cost Accounting System.
  • Assist in the month-end close of the General Ledger.
  • Conduct physical inventory cycle counts when necessary and monitor the integrity of the cycle count program.
  • Reconcile finished goods inventories.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 2 solid years of Cost Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong Cost systems background and excellent analytical skills.
  • Computer literate with strong Excel skills and the ability to use Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Experience with QAD (Shop floor control) a plus.
  • Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards.
  • Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
