At School District #39, we take pride in delivering outstanding educational experiences for our students. As a prominent urban school district, we represent one of Canada's most diverse educational systems.


In Elementary schools, under the supervision of the school Principal/Vice-Principal, you will be responsible for preparing simple desserts and food accompaniments, serving meals, ordering, receiving, storing, and managing inventory of supplies, training and overseeing students during meal service, cleaning and sanitizing kitchen and serving areas, as well as maintaining program records.


In Secondary schools, following the guidance of the Cafeteria Kitchen Work Leader, you will assist in food preparation, help set up lunch entrees and desserts, serve students, perform cashier duties, clean and sanitize work areas and equipment, and support stock taking and inventory management.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 1
  • Extensive knowledge of kitchen and food service operations
  • Experience in a medium to large restaurant or cafeteria setting
  • Valid Food Safe Certificate
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (minimum 25 lbs.)
  • Experience in cashiering
  • Proficiency in using email for placing food orders with vendors
  • Completion of a baking instructor's program is an asset
