Position Overview:
The York Catholic District School Board is seeking candidates for the role of Vice Principal in a Secondary School setting. This position is part of a shortlist process, allowing successful candidates to be considered for a maximum duration of three years. Individuals who have previously applied unsuccessfully for two consecutive postings within the last year will not be eligible for an interview.
Key Responsibilities:The selected candidate will be expected to:
- Uphold and promote Catholic education, fostering a community grounded in Christian values.
- Align with the York Catholic District School Board's Mission, Vision, and Strategic Commitments.
- Exhibit excellence in either classroom instruction or administrative functions.
- Possess a strong understanding of child and adolescent development as well as learning psychology.
- Be knowledgeable about essential learning outcomes.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities that nurture a Catholic Learning Community.
- Advocate for human rights and equity within educational settings and the broader community.
- Commit to ongoing personal and professional development.
- Completion of Religious Education AQ Part 2 or equivalent, or a commitment to the Catholic Leadership Program at St. Michael's University of Toronto.
- Active participation in a Catholic worshiping community, verified by a Parish priest.
- Possession of Ontario School Principal's Qualifications Parts I/II as mandated by Ontario Regulation 176/10.
- Candidates currently enrolled in the Principal Qualification Program (PQP) and nearing completion may apply.
- Completion of the YCDSB Discernment Series for Aspiring Vice-Principals prior to placement.
- Special Education Part 1 Course or the Special Education for Administrators AQ Course is required.
- A minimum of seven years of successful permanent teaching experience across both Intermediate and Senior divisions, including two years in a leadership role.
