Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled **Long Haul Truck Operator** to join our team at **Miller Paving Limited**. This position requires a commitment to safety and efficiency while transporting goods across various routes.

Employment Type

Full-time position with flexible scheduling including Day, Early Morning, Evening, Night, and Overtime shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance to fellow team members on innovative work practices.
  • Collaborate as part of a two-person driving team or in a convoy.
  • Secure necessary permits and documentation for international cargo transport.
  • Operate and maneuver both straight and articulated trucks for the delivery of materials.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of the vehicle, including tires, lights, brakes, and cold storage equipment.
  • Perform emergency repairs roadside as needed.
  • Execute pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, ensuring all vehicle aspects are monitored.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance on the vehicle.
  • Document cargo details, service hours, distance traveled, and fuel usage.
  • Ensure proper tarping and security of cargo during transport.
  • Handle and transport hazardous materials safely.
Qualifications

Applicants must possess the following credentials:

  • **Air Brake (Z) Endorsement**
  • **Driver's License (Class 1 or A)**
  • **Driver's License (Class 3 or D)**
  • **Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate**
Experience Requirements

Knowledge of documentation processes including:

  • Driver logbook management
  • Inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip)
  • Maintenance and repair documentation
Equipment Expertise

Experience with various types of trucking equipment, including:

  • Concrete mixing trucks
  • Straight trucks (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles)
  • Tractor-trailers
Additional Information

**Security and Safety Checks**: Candidates must undergo a criminal record check, driver's license validity check, driving record abstract check, and medical examination.

**Travel Requirements**: Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to travel for extended periods.

Work Environment
