Key Responsibilities
  • Perform seamless database upgrades from DB2 UDB versions 10.5 and 11.1 to 11.5, ensuring minimal downtime and smooth transitions.
  • Manage DB2 UDB databases, including installation, patch management, and MQ software configuration.
  • Coordinate and resolve IBM MQ Replication, ensuring data consistency and availability.
  • Configure and handle High Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR) environments, ensuring data protection and quick recovery.
  • Apply database diagnostic tools for performance tuning, query optimization, and monitoring.
  • Implement and lead backup, restore, and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Build and manage database objects, logical and physical storage, storage groups, and handle capacity planning.
  • Monitor replication, run user authorizations, and automate routine tasks using scripting.
Requirements
  • 8 to 12 years of experience with a solid grasp in DB2 UDB database administration, upgrades, and IBM MQ Replication.
  • Demonstrable experience in installation, patch management, backup/restore, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Hands-on experience with performance tuning, query optimization, index and partition creation, and related tools.
  • Solid grasp of High Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR) configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Proficient in using database diagnostic tools and experience scripting to automate routine DBA tasks.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes, including problem, change, and incident management.
  • Ability to lead and tackle IBM MQ replication optimally.
Working Arrangements

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Mississauga, ON.
