Electrical Engineer Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Optimize hydro generator electromagnetic design for proposals, contracts, and studies
  • Analyze electrical components using in-house tools or develop calculations as necessary
  • Document proposals, technical reports, and customer O&M manuals
  • Review and approve electrical drawings to ensure contractual and internal requirements are met
  • Create engineering instructions defining technical requirements for manufacturing, installation, and testing
  • Dispose of non-conformances during manufacturing and installation
  • Review and analyze site data and testing
  • Create and calibrate design tools
  • Work on R&D projects for the development of new generator technologies

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Existing or potential for Professional Engineer registration
  • 3 to 5 years of design experience with hydro generators or other rotating machinery
  • Computer skills in common PC applications - Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Electromagnetic finite element skills - desired
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, sound judgment, initiative, and creativity
  • Ability to work with people in a team environment
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Fluency in English required
  • Ability to travel and work with various cultures
