About SMS Equipment Inc.
SMS Equipment Inc. is expanding its operations and is in search of Heavy Duty Mechanics with Journeyperson certifications. Our Designated Field Technicians play a crucial role in delivering repairs, overhauls, and new builds for construction and mining equipment. This position requires strong analytical skills and logical reasoning for effective troubleshooting and diagnostics.
Work Schedule: The position follows a 14x14 shift rotation.
Compensation: The hourly wage for this role is $54.14 per hour, which includes base pay and potential premiums. Additional premiums may also be available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assemblies, preventive maintenance, repairs, and comprehensive overhauls on heavy machinery.
- Identify faults or malfunctions using computerized and other diagnostic tools to assess the necessary repairs.
- Provide recommendations on repair scopes and suggest improvement strategies.
- Stay updated with technological advancements and apply logical thinking.
- Interpret work orders and technical documentation accurately.
- Complete job-specific reports and documentation as required.
- Maintain a strong focus on workplace health and safety.
- Demonstrate motivation and the ability to work independently in challenging environments.
- Perform tasks in adverse weather conditions, including physically demanding activities such as lifting up to 50 lbs and confined space work.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will hold a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification. Additional qualifications include:
- A strong commitment to safety practices.
- Experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy machinery.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Some roles may require travel to meet customer site demands.
- Familiarity with Komatsu equipment is advantageous.
- Interprovincial Red Seal certification is a plus.
- A valid Class 5/G driver's license.
Access Requirements: Candidates must be able to fulfill the following requirements to gain access to customer worksites:
- Pre-employment medical examination.
- Drug and alcohol screening.
- Driver's abstract.
- Employment verification.
