Job Summary

The URD Foreperson is responsible for overseeing and leading general activities on year-round underground URD distribution construction sites in Calgary and surrounding areas. This role involves leading tradespersons and other site personnel to achieve project milestones in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take initiative to lead a URD team and coordinate material pickup and delivery.
  • Direct tradespersons (Electrician / Gas Fusers) as required and provide direction and guidance to heavy equipment operators and signal operators.
  • Assist in installing various utilities and being familiar with specification requirements with Fortis, Atco Gas, Shaw/Rogers, and TELUS shallow installation practices.
  • Operate pneumatic tools, tampers, and tools as directed and direct traffic at or near construction sites.
  • Perform other activities at construction sites as directed.

Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma
Work Experience Requirements
  • 5 years' experience working in the construction industry as a URD Foreperson, on utilities (electrical/civil) projects.
Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements
  • Ability to work safely
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Possess a valid Alberta Drivers License, Class 5 (or 3), and a clean drivers abstract
  • Experience in reading and interpreting utility locates/blueprint drawings and ordering materials such as aggregates
  • Ground Disturbance Certification
  • Construction Safety Certifications including Traffic Control Person (TPS) Certification, Flagging Certification, Confined Space Awareness/Rescue, Fall Arrest, WHMIS, First Aid, and Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE)
