Job Description

We are seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented students to join our team at the Communications Security Establishment (CSE) as Summer Students in Language and Linguistics. As a Summer Student, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced analysts and contribute to the development of signals intelligence reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and analyze material in Simplified or Traditional Chinese to assist in the drafting of signals intelligence reporting.
  • Listen to and analyze material in Mandarin or Cantonese to determine its relevance and importance.
  • Produce translations or transcriptions that will be used to create reports for Government of Canada clients to inform federal decision-making and safeguard Canadian interests.
  • Conduct research, synthesize material, and provide context by drawing on linguistic and cultural expertise.
Requirements
  • Be registered as a 3rd-year or 4th-year full-time student in a recognized post-secondary program in Canada.
  • Have a strong understanding of Chinese language and culture.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Assets
  • Ability to code in Python, R, C, or other programming languages.
  • Knowledge of geospatial analysis tools and techniques.
