We are currently looking for a full-time Sustainability Specialist to support our expanding operations in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, and throughout Canada. This role involves collaborating with a team of engineers and environmental scientists on a range of sustainability initiatives related to infrastructure, land development, renewable energy, and mining projects.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  1. A bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, accompanied by 5-10 years of professional experience.
  2. A proven ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.
  3. Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills in English, along with strong organizational capabilities and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively while ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery.
  4. Familiarity with mining operations, development, and closure processes would be advantageous.
Main Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in the following areas:

  1. Participating in the planning, development, and execution of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Environmental Assessments (EAs) for proposed projects across various sectors, adhering to provincial and federal regulations.
  2. Designing, implementing, and overseeing field programs and surveys related to the assessment of wildlife, vegetation (including rare species), aquatic ecosystems, wetlands, and species at risk.
  3. Coordinating, preparing, and reviewing environmental permitting applications at both provincial and federal levels, as well as developing necessary offsetting plans of varying complexity.
  4. Drafting proposals, environmental reports, and conducting associated data analyses.
  5. Collaborating with GEMTEC colleagues across different offices on environmental permitting and related projects of diverse scales.
  6. Coordinating and executing environmental and socioeconomic studies, along with stakeholder and public consultation initiatives.
Position:

This is a full-time salaried position.
