Mechanical Locomotive Financial Specialist

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Oversee the processing and validation of invoicing related to Long-Term Parts Agreements and other applicable third-party contracts.
- Ensure precise tracking of warranty claims for materials in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Supervise outsourced maintenance and repair activities for locomotives.
- Assist in negotiating contract modifications, ensuring effective controls for cross-billing related to locomotive agreements.
- Drive enhancements in operational efficiency through continuous improvement methodologies, standardization, performance metrics, and process management.
- Guarantee compliance of accounting and reporting processes with relevant internal control requirements.
- Identify and analyze opportunities for process improvements and implement chosen solutions.
- Lead the monthly financial outlook for locomotive maintenance materials and associated third-party expenditures.
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive financial reports and forecasts to senior leadership, providing actionable insights.
- Direct annual operational and capital expenditure budget planning for locomotive maintenance, servicing, infrastructure, and equipment upgrades.
- Facilitate communication between Mechanical, Finance, HR, and other departments as necessary.
- Manage the development and execution of multi-year capital and strategic maintenance initiatives aimed at enhancing cost-effective locomotive servicing and repairs.
- Support the rationale for equipment modifications and adjustments to maintenance practices.
- Engage in long-term planning teams for locomotive operations.
- Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related fields.
- Accounting designation is a plus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in budget oversight, financial forecasting, and operational management, preferably in the transportation or mechanical engineering industries.
- Demonstrated success in managing substantial operational and capital budgets.
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Advanced skills in BPC or other financial management software.
- Strong analytical abilities to interpret complex financial data and deliver strategic insights.
- Capability to distill extensive data into clear and understandable formats.
- Exceptional communication and presentation capabilities.
- Strong organizational, time management, and relationship management skills.
- Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
- Knowledge of the Railway or Heavy Equipment sectors is advantageous.
