Aquaculture Worker Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Aquaculture Worker to join our team at Atlantic Aqua Farms Ltd.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Feed and care for aquaculture stock, ensuring their health and well-being.
  • Cull, mark, or tag aquaculture stocks as required.
  • Clean and maintain aquaculture enclosures to prevent disease and promote growth.
  • Transfer stock to tanks in trucks and pack stock in special containers for transportation.
  • Rake and gather marine plants for processing.
  • Dig shellfish from shellfish beds and clean, sort, and pack them for market.
  • Assist aquaculture technicians in the operation of fish hatcheries or other aquatic farms.
  • Grade and weigh aquaculture stocks to ensure quality and quantity.
  • Operate fishing vessels and fishing gears to harvest mussel stocks.
Work Environment:

Aquaculture Workers will work outdoors in a fast-paced environment, often in wet or damp conditions, with exposure to odours and cold temperatures.

Requirements:
  • Dependability and efficient interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
  • Flexibility and initiative are required to adapt to changing work conditions and priorities.
  • Judgement and team player skills are necessary to work effectively in a dynamic team environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle heavy loads is required.
  • Manual dexterity and attention to detail are necessary for tasks such as grading and weighing aquaculture stocks.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, with bending, crouching, and kneeling required.
