Job Summary:
Bureau Veritas Group is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Analyst to join our team at the Oil Sands Laboratory in Fort McMurray, Alberta. As a Laboratory Analyst, you will be responsible for operating various instruments, performing sample preparation, and delivering high-quality analytical data accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate various instruments, including GC's, Viscometers, Digital Density Meter, Dean Stark, and particle-sized analysis for Petroleum Plant Operation
- Perform sample preparation and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
- Deliver high-quality analytical data accurately and on time
- Maintain proper calibration, quality control records, and routine maintenance procedures
- Execute daily troubleshooting methods of analytical equipment
- Ensure adherence to Bureau Veritas's policies, certifications, and accreditations
- Actively participate in Bureau Veritas's Health and Safety Program (meetings, near-miss and incident reporting, hazard assessment)
Requirements:
- Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in a related field (BS, Petroleum/Chemical Technician)
- Demonstrated success in a position of a Laboratory Technician or Analyst is an asset
- Sound knowledge of sample handling procedures to ensure continuity and integrity of samples through compliance with laboratory procedures and quality assurance protocols
- Knowledge of and experience with laboratory Occupational Health and Safety practices to handle hazardous materials by taking the necessary precautions
- Excellent manual dexterity, record-keeping, calculations, and problem-solving abilities
- Flexible to perform varying duties to accommodate changing priorities
- Good time-management, communication, multi-tasking, and priority-setting skills
- Strong computer skills
- Positive outlook with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Works both independently and as part of a team
Experience:
- Minimum Education: Diploma in a related field (Required)
- 1-2 years of experience in a related field (Preferred)
Schedule:
- Shift work - 12 hour shifts
- The shift rotation is: work 14 day shifts, then have 14 days off; alternating with, work 14 night shifts, then have 14 days off
- Local Fort McMurray Applicants: Transportation to/from site provided and camp accommodations
- Applicants living in Edmonton and Calgary: Qualify for a fly-in/fly-out schedule and camp accommodations
