POSITION SUMMARY:
As the leader of our manufacturing and machine shop operations, you will be instrumental in managing all facets of our production activities. This encompasses assembly processes, CNC programming and setup, metalworking, and mechanical design. Your primary responsibility will be to guide a team of laborers, apprentices, and skilled tradespeople through various projects, ensuring their work meets safety standards and project timelines. Your focus will be on facilitating the efficient operation of fabrication and assembly tasks while upholding the highest quality benchmarks.
ABOUT ROYAL MACHINE SOLUTIONS:
At Royal Machine Solutions, we embrace a philosophy of continuous improvement known as two second lean. As a supervisor, you will be expected to foster and promote this lean culture consistently. This includes embodying the principles of two second lean personally and ensuring your team adheres to these practices.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in CNC machining, particularly within a custom job shop environment. Familiarity with welding techniques and metal fabrication principles is essential. A solid understanding of profitability principles and how job organization and efficiency contribute to this is also required. In terms of leadership, the candidate should be adept at delegating tasks effectively and nurturing the skill development of team members while instilling company values.
Key Skills Required:
- Supervise and mentor employees effectively, ensuring safety, minimizing errors, fostering skill development, and enhancing efficiency for project profitability.
- Proficient in programming, setting up, and operating CNC machinery.
- Ability to create parts using Fusion 360 (3D modeling) for production by team members.
- Comprehensive knowledge of metal fabrication processes and associated quality standards, including MIG and TIG welding, fitting, and bending with hydraulic press brakes.
- Understanding of conveyor systems to lead assembly crews for various systems and belting.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with Solidworks and basic engineering principles.
- Experience in customer interactions, including site measurements, quoting machining and fabrication projects, and managing orders throughout their lifecycle.
- Capable of overseeing ongoing shop projects and organizing workforce allocation accordingly.
- Ability to meet deadlines and budget constraints, with a strong grasp of how time and financial factors influence project management.
- Familiar with procurement practices and capable of following up with suppliers.
- Provide safety guidance to all personnel and ensure compliance with safety regulations and policies.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Trade certification is an asset.
- Training in Lift Truck operation, WHMIS, and Fall Arrest is advantageous.
- First Aid Certification.
EXPERIENCE:
- Safety and punctuality are imperative.
- Proven time management and leadership capabilities.
- Experience in supervising employees.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma/Certificate.
- Preferred: Red Seal certification in Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A).
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
- Access to benefits following successful completion of a probationary period.
- Boot allowance available after the probationary period.
