Position Overview
The Old-Growth Forester will operate under the mentorship of the Old-Growth Forest Coordinator within the Forestry Division, playing a crucial role in the execution of the Old-Growth Forest Policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee field data collection initiatives focused on old-growth forest ecosystems.
- Perform statistical analyses and prepare comprehensive research reports.
- Assist in departmental field data collection utilizing expertise in ArcPro.
- Facilitate the identification and preservation of old-growth forests located on crown land in Nova Scotia.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in forestry or a master's degree in forestry with at least one year of relevant experience.
- Knowledge or experience in forest ecosystems, tree measurement, and species identification.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS or ArcPro software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in forest ecology, landscape planning, or forest management strategies.
- Advanced skills in ArcGIS, ArcPro, and R statistical programming.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Work Environment

Compensation: Pay Grade: PR 07 - PR 12 Salary Range: $2,000 - $2,800 Bi-Weekly
