About the Role:
The Maintenance Supervisor will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient execution of maintenance work at Maple Leaf Foods. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this individual will supervise and coach the Maintenance team to achieve optimal operational effectiveness and meet corporate objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide input into PM reviews and PM development activities to ensure alignment with site objectives.
- Oversee assigned activities related to asset performance improvement, including internal equipment rebuilds and review of external rebuilds.
- Manage emergency and break-in work, providing input to the work prioritization process.
- Participate in the daily work request review meeting and provide input into maintenance job plans.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance team to optimize part/material levels and ensure accurate documentation of work orders.
- Own the weekly schedule, adjusting as needed to accommodate emergency and break-in work.
- Provide technical assistance to maintenance personnel and work with the team to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct quarterly audits of the Trades people against the skills matrix and implement remedial action as needed.
- Lead the shift handover meeting and review job delay codes and times to identify areas for improvement.
- Monitor work order completion and provide coaching/support as needed, ensuring that work is executed in accordance with defined standards.
- Refer to visual boards in the workshop to track daily work scope and weekly KPIs.
- Review completed work orders to ensure accuracy and completeness, addressing any issues or variances.
- Ensure that parts and machine assemblies are promptly sent for repair/rebuild if required and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Schedule overtime or contract work as needed, managing contractors within budgetary limits.
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of work order documentation before sending to the Planner.
- Provide technical assistance in analyzing planned and completed work orders to improve current and future job plans.
- Identify and address knowledge gaps from completed work orders and implement the site's documented Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) process.
- Responsible for the application of defined roles and responsibilities for Trades and the Maintenance Supervisor cross shift hand-over process.
- Cooperate with Operations to create equipment handover and release schedules, including pre and post job communication.
- Oversee the return of spares to the warehouse and participate in the Maintenance department's continuous improvement and knowledge collection efforts.
- Manage the mentor/apprentice program for specific Trades roles and collect and track Maintenance execution KPIs.
