Job Summary:

GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled Commercial Driver to join our team in Victoria, British Columbia. As a Commercial Driver, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently providing waste removal services to commercial customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and transport solid waste or recyclables from commercial buildings to post-collection facilities.
  • Operate a Commercial Waste/Recycling collection vehicle, side-load and/or rear-load truck, ancillary equipment, and hydraulic system to collect solid waste and/or recyclables on specified collection routes.
  • Load solid waste or recyclables into the side or rear of the waste collection vehicle.
  • Operate equipment on the truck to compact product into the vehicle.
  • Identify and tag prohibited waste items and remove them from the waste cart or can.
  • Manage assigned helpers, if applicable.
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip safety lane inspections and reports, daily truck reports, route sheets, and other documentation requested by supervisors daily.
  • Communicate vehicle mechanical problems to mechanics and supervisors immediately.
  • Report all accidents or incidents to supervisors immediately.

Requirements:

  • Must possess a Class 3 Commercial Driver's License.
  • Minimum one (1) year of commercial driving experience.
