GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled Landfill Equipment Operator to join our team in a part-time capacity. This role is responsible for maintaining the landfill's organization and safety, ensuring a clean and healthy environment for our community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the tipping area to prevent litter from blowing away.
- Conduct regular inspections of compost areas, set up bait stations, and maintain accurate records.
- Ensure the landfill is kept clean and free of debris.
- Collaborate with experts to ensure waste is filled to grade.
- Perform routine maintenance on heavy equipment, including adding fluids and greasing parts.
- Inspect and clean the equipment's tracks to ensure optimal performance.
- Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on procedures and best practices.
Requirements:
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Strong problem-solving skills and common sense.
- Basic math skills.
- Proficiency in reading, speaking, understanding, and writing English.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Valid driver's license.
Working Conditions:
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Operate heavy equipment for approximately half of the workday.
- Work in a noisy environment.
- Work hours may extend beyond 5:45 PM.
