Job Summary

The Senior Estimator plays a pivotal role in leading the resources within the Estimating Department, providing coaching and mentoring across disciplines. This position involves analyzing tender documents and preparing cost estimates and proposals for submission. The Senior Estimator is responsible for interfacing with all support teams and clients to achieve detailed and accurate estimates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Acts as a resource and mentor to all other estimators, assisting with organizing resources within the estimating department.
  • Estimate Preparation: Reviews and evaluates proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and the content of the estimate, quantifying all aspects of the tender document.
  • Supplier Management: Solicits supplier quotations for material, equipment, and sub-trade quotations, whether internal to TESC departments or from an external supplier.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Attends pre-tender meetings, including estimate reviews and tender closings, and prepares detailed, accurate, professional estimates.
  • Analysis and Reporting: Recommends multiple scenarios based on cost, engineering quality, or material availability, and advises management regarding cost and schedule fluctuations.
  • Quality and Compliance: Ensures that estimates address scope, pricing, and comprehensiveness, and reviews estimates with TESC management as appropriate.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Training and Development: Actively participates in TESC estimating training programs.
  • Cost Management: Prepares Tender to construction revision and costs impact, and keeps historical data up to date in TESC database.
  • Networking and Professional Development: Attends conferences, trade shows, and other networking opportunities as required.
Requirements
  • Education: College diploma or construction-related training.
  • Experience: 5 to 10 years of experience in construction management and estimating.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of fabrication, assembly, installation, erection, alteration, repair, hoisting, and dismantling of structural steel and components.
  • Leadership and Communication: Demonstrated leadership skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work well under pressure and meet project deadlines.
