Role Summary:
The Senior Optimization Analyst will take the lead in engaging diverse business units within Parkland to assess and spearhead project execution for both immediate and long-term opportunities that will deliver substantial value to the organization. The ideal candidate will effectively communicate the overarching enterprise vision and its benefits to cross-functional teams, fostering alignment and collaboration on various project initiatives. This role will also promote a culture of continuous evaluation of existing processes to uncover cost-saving efficiencies or value enhancement opportunities across the business units.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct monthly demand planning forecasts and ensure accuracy through backcasting and reporting.
- Oversee the monthly demand planning cycle, including sales channel forecasts and supply operations lifting forecasts.
- Facilitate and manage the Opportunity Registry.
- Administer the national opportunity registry, prioritizing high-value items and developing business cases for further evaluation by the Corporate Development team.
- Identify and lead cross-functional project opportunities—both short-term and long-term.
- Guide discussions among various stakeholders to pinpoint issues, enhancements, and opportunities within Parkland's logistical assets, optimizing current agreements and addressing limitations to add value.
- Lead project initiatives requiring collaboration from a diverse group of stakeholders, including industry asset maintenance, new product launches, compliance with government regulations, and more.
- Manage the Annual Supplier Budget Process and Supplier Nomination Process.
- Collaborate with Finance and Sales teams to establish a feasible national annual volume budget.
- Develop a supplier strategy that allows for sales flexibility while maintaining robust supplier relationships and compliance.
- Oversee the National/Regional RFP Contract Bid Process.
- Ensure that the VP, Fuel, Supply & Trading, and the negotiation team are equipped with all necessary information regarding demand volumes and commercial terms analysis.
- Provide support for vacation coverage and assist in onboarding new team members.
- Adhere to all Operational Excellence policies and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
Experience and Skills:
- 8-10 years of experience in Product Supply, Refining, or Fuels Marketing is preferred.
- A self-motivated individual with a team-oriented, customer-focused approach is essential for success in this role.
- Outstanding collaboration, communication, and non-authoritative leadership abilities.
- The capacity to understand diverse perspectives, build strong relationships, and connect various groups with differing priorities.
- A willingness to embrace change and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Experience in Sales and Marketing is considered an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, to effectively engage with employees at all organizational levels and external contacts.
- Extensive experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is advantageous.
