In this pivotal role, you will engage in the planning and execution of Capital Projects, with investments ranging from $10,000 to $5 million.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing engineering expertise and support to the manufacturing facility concerning equipment and system enhancements or replacements.
  • Leading and completing all phases of assigned Capital Projects, including conceptual design, scoping, detailed design, tendering, cost estimation, installation, and testing.
  • Ensuring that all safety, quality, and food manufacturing standards are incorporated into the design scope and adhered to during project execution, which involves conducting design reviews with key stakeholders.
  • Resolving technical design issues and managing purchase orders and contracts.
  • Conducting Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing with major equipment suppliers to verify satisfactory performance.
  • Developing and leading commissioning, qualification, and verification plans, including User Acceptance Testing, following the installation of equipment and systems.
  • Providing ongoing technical support for in-service equipment and systems, and identifying Capital Projects aimed at enhancing manufacturing operations to meet product quality and productivity goals.
  • Staying informed about advancements in utility, bakery, and candy processes and packaging technologies.
  • Representing the Engineering department positively and effectively in all assigned duties.

Qualifications:

  • An accredited degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (or a related discipline).
  • Professional Engineering designation (PEO) is an asset.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in capital project management (PMP certification is advantageous).
  • At least 2 years of engineering experience with mechanical processes and packaging systems, preferably in the food or consumer packaged goods industry.
  • Proficiency in preparing and interpreting engineering drawings and P&IDs.
  • Experience with AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills, including Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
