Key Responsibilities- Perform all dispensing functions independently, adhering to departmental procedures and NAPRA Standards.
- Conduct final technical checks of products, following departmental processes and OCP standards.
- Replenish Automated Dispensing Machines (ADMs) and utilize the pneumatic tube system for distribution.
- Function as a Pharmacy Courier, ensuring timely delivery of medications.
- Supply 'pass' medications as required.
- Carry out changes in patient census, including transfers and discharges.
- Prepare daily cartfill medications.
- Complete associated documentation and workload statistics.
- Supply ward stock and required medications, adhering to established procedures.
- Prepare and deliver sterile products, following CSHP and departmental standards.
- Complete labeling, documentation, and workload statistics for sterile products.
- Maintain inventory control, ensuring adequate stock levels and accurate counts.
- Supply nursing units with ward stocks of Narcotic and Controlled drugs, using ADM.
- Maintain crash cart supplies throughout the hospital.
- Place purchase orders and arrange for the return of expired pharmaceuticals.
- Receive and scan pharmaceuticals, adhering to departmental and hospital procedures.
- Perform duties in accordance with the Pharmacy Drug Budget.
- Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner, ensuring adequate supplies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Successful completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program approved by the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
- Registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Mathematical computation skills for pharmacy practice.
- Attention to detail for accurate dispensing and order entry.
- Writing skills for clear and concise reports and summaries.
- Verbal communication skills for effective interaction with colleagues and patients.
- Organizational and prioritization skills.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain successful working relationships.
- Ability to interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible, and reassuring manner.
- Tact, courtesy, and alertness in public contacts.
- Operating knowledge of computers, printers, fax machines, and pharmaceutical-related software.
- Familiarity with the proper operation of laminar flow hoods, analytical balances, syringe pumps, packaging equipment, and other equipment used in drug distribution.
