Job Title: Aircraft Painter

Division: Paint

Position Overview:

Responsible for stripping, cleaning, and preparing aircraft surfaces for exterior refinishing. Execute the painting of aircraft exteriors with precision.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform touch-up detail painting as necessary. Identify painting issues, recommend corrective actions, and provide guidance on quality improvement procedures. Complete all required documentation related to job functions. Undertake cleaning responsibilities as needed and inspect various levels of work (e.g., Cleaners, level 2 and Painters, level 4). This includes general aircraft preparation and cleaning, sanding composite parts, and applying chemical treatments to aircraft surfaces. Mask and protect areas not requiring stripping, and ensure thorough cleaning of all surfaces. Actively participate in and support the company's Safety Management System (SMS) program. Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Typical Job Decisions:

Make independent decisions regarding paint application and masking techniques. Assess when tasks are complete based on established guidelines. Determine solutions for minor quality control issues.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge

Proficient in sanding, masking, and preparing surfaces for spray applications.

Skills

Ability to perform large-scale industrial paint applications efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards.

By the end of the probationary period, candidates must have successfully completed:

WHMIS training. Human factors training. Compliance with housekeeping practices and maintenance procedures for tools and equipment.

Job Qualifications:

Required

Secondary School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of experience in spray painting, body shop, or factory painting environments.

Preferred

Experience in aircraft painting or similar fields. Familiarity with sanding fiberglass. Experience in prepping, masking, custom work, or detailing.

Working Conditions:

Physical Demands: Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), sit or stand for extended periods, and perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, and working at heights. Visual and Concentration Demands: Must maintain situational awareness and strong attention to detail, with the ability to adapt to frequent changes in priorities. Challenging Working Conditions: Exposure to hazardous materials, slippery surfaces, dust, adverse weather, and confined spaces.
