About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Medical Assistant to join our established General Practice team at Alta Vista Animal Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with medical procedures, including venipuncture, catheter placement, radiology, and anesthesia monitoring.
  • Conduct physical examinations, patient assessments, and triage under the supervision of a veterinarian.
  • Prepare and monitor patients for surgery, and assist with surgical procedures.
  • Perform laboratory work, including blood draws and sample preparation.
  • Provide compassionate care to hospitalized patients and their families.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of a Veterinary Technician program.
  • New graduates and experienced RVTs welcome.
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, and oral), bilingualism considered an asset.
  • Able to support up to 50mg and lift up to 25kg.
  • Excellent client service skills and ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.
  • Time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Proven ability to organize, take initiative, work independently, and exercise good judgment.
  • Decision-making and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships with professionalism and integrity.
