Senior Care Physician

Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver primary healthcare services both in-person and through virtual consultations.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, including LPNs, mental health professionals, and social workers.
- Engage in shadow billing for both direct and indirect patient care.
- Participate in clinic and provider rounds as scheduled.
- Assist in data collection and documentation as required.
- Complete mandatory organizational training (e.g., responding to suspected opioid overdoses, facility orientations).
- Act as a mentor for family medicine and public health residents, if desired.
Qualifications:
- Active member in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
- Possession of appropriate medical liability insurance (e.g., CMPA or equivalent).
- Affiliation with a Primary Care Network (PCN) or willingness to join.
- Specialized skills are encouraged (e.g., opiate agonist therapy, transgender medicine, emergency care).
- Experience with vulnerable populations is advantageous.
- A strong commitment to advocating for and building relationships with seniors.
- Understanding of social determinants of health affecting marginalized groups.
- Proficiency in EMR systems and familiarity with Netcare is essential.
- Current CPR certification is required upon commencement.
- Clearance of a vulnerable sector criminal record and child welfare intervention check is mandatory.
- Knowledge of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action is beneficial.
- Willingness to engage in anti-racist and anti-oppressive practices and continuous learning.
Work Environment:
- The role is based at The Alex Seniors Health Centre.
- Part-time position at 0.4 FTE (7-hour shifts, 2 days per week), with potential for 0.6 FTE.
- Standard working hours are Monday to Friday.
- Currently, the ARP rate is competitive.
- No evening or weekend shifts, and no on-call responsibilities.
- Minimum appointment duration is 30 minutes, with options for longer sessions.
- Locum coverage will be arranged as needed.
- Access to a range of in-house specialists and allied health services.
