Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver nursing services in alignment with organizational policies, medical directives, established protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  2. Possess a thorough understanding of the Resident Bill of Rights, striving to uphold and promote it while ensuring resident satisfaction and fostering continuous quality enhancement initiatives.
  3. Collaborate with the Nutrition Department to guarantee that residents' dietary needs and preferences are adequately addressed.
  4. Facilitate the scheduling and documentation of Care Conferences to support a multidisciplinary approach to resident care.
  5. Oversee the development, implementation, and review of initial and ongoing assessments and care plans.
  6. Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and termination processes of nursing staff in conjunction with the Director of Nursing.
  7. Delegate, supervise, and manage nursing staff performance.
  8. Organize staff schedules and replacements across all departments in the absence of the designated Department Head.
  9. Ensure compliance among registered personnel regarding medication administration, legislative requirements, and organizational policies.
  10. Manage in-house pharmaceutical inventory control and distribution to ensure registered personnel have the necessary supplies to meet residents' prescribed needs.
  11. Initiate and oversee the resident admission process, participating in admissions, discharges, and transfers to and from assigned units.
  12. Address resident and family concerns confidentially on behalf of the organization.
  13. Promote and uphold the organization's values and principles, particularly regarding ethics, morality, and integrity as outlined in the Code of Conduct.
  14. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. At least two (2) years of experience in geriatrics, rehabilitation, and long-term care at a supervisory level.
  2. Registered Nurse with a valid license from the relevant provincial licensing authority. Proven leadership skills with extensive knowledge of nursing and healthcare practices related to long-term care.
  3. A diploma in Gerontology, Nursing Unit Administration, Management courses, or equivalent qualifications is advantageous.
  4. Actively seeks opportunities for professional development and continuous learning.
  5. Exhibits maturity and maintains good physical and mental health, along with qualities such as empathy, patience, and tact.
  6. Proficiency in an additional language is considered an asset.
  7. Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
