- Deliver nursing services in alignment with organizational policies, medical directives, established protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Possess a thorough understanding of the Resident Bill of Rights, striving to uphold and promote it while ensuring resident satisfaction and fostering continuous quality enhancement initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Nutrition Department to guarantee that residents' dietary needs and preferences are adequately addressed.
- Facilitate the scheduling and documentation of Care Conferences to support a multidisciplinary approach to resident care.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and review of initial and ongoing assessments and care plans.
- Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and termination processes of nursing staff in conjunction with the Director of Nursing.
- Delegate, supervise, and manage nursing staff performance.
- Organize staff schedules and replacements across all departments in the absence of the designated Department Head.
- Ensure compliance among registered personnel regarding medication administration, legislative requirements, and organizational policies.
- Manage in-house pharmaceutical inventory control and distribution to ensure registered personnel have the necessary supplies to meet residents' prescribed needs.
- Initiate and oversee the resident admission process, participating in admissions, discharges, and transfers to and from assigned units.
- Address resident and family concerns confidentially on behalf of the organization.
- Promote and uphold the organization's values and principles, particularly regarding ethics, morality, and integrity as outlined in the Code of Conduct.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- At least two (2) years of experience in geriatrics, rehabilitation, and long-term care at a supervisory level.
- Registered Nurse with a valid license from the relevant provincial licensing authority. Proven leadership skills with extensive knowledge of nursing and healthcare practices related to long-term care.
- A diploma in Gerontology, Nursing Unit Administration, Management courses, or equivalent qualifications is advantageous.
- Actively seeks opportunities for professional development and continuous learning.
- Exhibits maturity and maintains good physical and mental health, along with qualities such as empathy, patience, and tact.
- Proficiency in an additional language is considered an asset.
- Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
