Position Overview
The Senior Financial Analyst plays a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive financial and budgetary insights, data oversight, and reporting for the Faculty of Applied Science. This position is integral to ensuring effective budget management and financial planning.

Key Responsibilities
The Senior Financial Analyst will:

  • Conduct high-level financial and budget analysis to support the Faculty's financial health.
  • Collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including senior management and department heads, to provide strategic financial information.
  • Focus on complex financial modeling and forecasting to understand salary and benefits mechanisms.
  • Enhance existing databases and reporting systems to streamline financial data management.
  • Analyze actual costs and budget drivers, establishing systems for ongoing monitoring.
  • Maintain expertise in financial systems and databases to facilitate accurate data extraction and analysis.
  • Guide departments in preparing quarterly forecasts and annual budgets, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Support the development of financial reports for external stakeholders.
  • Implement new financial reporting systems and processes, providing necessary training and support.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support the financial operations of the Faculty.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant field and completion of a CPA accounting program.
  • A minimum of seven years of relevant experience in financial analysis and budget management.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Experience in leading teams and collaborating with senior leadership.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Work Environment
The Senior Financial Analyst will operate within a collaborative and professional setting, reporting to the Associate Director of Finance. This role requires a proactive approach to managing financial data and supporting the Faculty's strategic objectives.
