Patient Focused Care Responsibilities:

  • Determine the appropriateness of drug therapy and monitor medication therapy for effectiveness, adverse reactions, and interactions.
  • Counsel patients regarding prescriptions, OTC products, and health-related issues, including indications, contraindications, adverse effects, interactions, and appropriate storage and care.
  • Answer questions from patients that require therapeutic knowledge, clinical analysis, or assessment.
  • Provide clinical services as appropriate for eligible patients and administer injections/immunizations as needed.
  • Promote health and wellness by providing education on disease prevention, lifestyle modifications, and medication adherence.
  • Collaborate with team members and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care outcomes.
  • Supervise a pharmacy student or a provisional pharmacist in the performance of restricted activities.
  • Adhere to federal, provincial, and territorial regulations governing pharmacy practice.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and keep knowledge and professional skills up-to-date.

Technical Skills:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational proficiency and attention to detail.
  • Self-directed and able to work independently.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.

Education and Experience:

  • Licensed and in good standing with the Alberta College of Pharmacy.
  • Injection certification is required.
  • Additional Prescribing Authorization is an asset.
